“The International Community Defended the Integrity and Standing of the United Nations”
The State of Palestine welcomes and appreciates the overwhelming support of Member States of the United Nations expressed today in the special emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The overwhelming majority of Member states voted in favor of the resolution reaffirming the principles of international law and previous Security Council resolutions regarding Jerusalem. Today, the international community voted in favor of the rule of international law and the United Nations Charter. With this vote, the international community defended the integrity and standing of the United Nations and the principles it stands for.
The State of Palestine stands shoulder to shoulder with the international community in defending and promoting the spirit and letter of international law and the United Nations Charter. Together, we must maintain the course and continue promoting the standing of the United Nations as an institution vital to international peace and security and whose decisions require respect and compliance.
The Palestinian people are profoundly grateful to the countries that voted in favor of the resolution today. They received your message of principled support loud and clear.
